Due to a lack of transparency about pay levels, gender-based pay discrimination can go undetected or be difficult to prove. Directive (EU) 2023/970, the Pay Transparency Directive strengthens the application of the principle of equal pay between men and women through pay transparency and enforcement mechanisms.
This module aims to provide an understanding of the Directive, covering:
the background of the Directive;
an overview of the Directive;
pay transparency in line with the Directive; and
enforcement mechanisms under the Directive.
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
recall the reasons why the Directive became necessary;
identify the material and personal scope of the Directive;
recognise the obligations of employers regarding pay transparency under the Directive;
recognise the rights of workers regarding pay transparency under the Directive; and
recall the enforcement mechanisms of the Directive.
