Implementing responsible AI: A strategy for the automotive sector

hero
  • Case Study

We worked with an automotive client to build in-house AI capabilities. We set up teams, defined roles and developed backlog management processes. Through our Responsible AI Toolkit, we collaborated with our client to deliver a reshaped AI strategy.

Client:

An automotive manufacturer

Our role:

We deployed practical tools and templates for building AI capabilities

Region:

Central and Eastern Europe

Setting the scene

The client sought to transform internal AI capabilities but faced several obstacles:

  • Limited understanding of best practices in establishing AI teams, processes and technologies
  • Lack of a standardised method for use case collection and backlog management
  • Difficulty in connecting data governance frameworks with advanced analytics and AI
  • Challenges in implementing AI capabilities with an ‘ethics-by-design’ approach.

The client sought out a collaborator with extensive industry expertise. As the issues were complex and urgent, our client needed a robust and responsible AI capability from the ground up.

How we helped

We began by assessing and scanning existing practices and processes. Applying agile methodologies, the project progressed through a series of short, focused development ‘sprints’. We co-created a playbook detailing end-to-end AI governance and implementation processes and crafted accelerators, like process templates and a governance model under a Responsible AI Agenda.

As part of our deliverables, we established a blueprint for AI solution architecture and a detailed backlog management process. These outputs accelerated our client’s AI capabilities in-house and knowledge transfer across the company.

“This project was about the transformative impact of responsible AI practices. By embedding ethics and structured frameworks, we’ve laid foundations for responsible innovation and rapid enhancement of our client’s AI capabilities. This partnership not only accelerated adoption but positions our client as a leader in responsible AI within the automotive sector.”

Impact and potential

Our forward-thinking, strategic approach significantly accelerated our client’s AI capabilities. We helped them swiftly build a proficient team of data science and analytics professionals. With our predefined templates and architectural concepts, our client quickly launched an AI Competence Centre initiative within the company and deployed the project.

This collaboration demonstrates the power of technology partners and alliances and a multi-disciplinary network. It also shows the importance of a strong focus on ethical deployment, robust governance and agile methods for responsible AI integration.
